Best of 2010

Although I have declared a break, I could nt resist this post for the Best work of 2010 event of Kavitha.
Here is what I feel the best work of 2010- The Ganesha Tanjore painting.

This is my second Tanjore painting(Jan 2010) I did after learning a Oonjal Krishna- which is a common painting.I wanted to try a not so common piece. And here comes our ganesha with Yaal(It is a musical instrument used centuries ago and our tamil poets describe," its  music is the sweetest of the sounds.."!!)
I enjoyed doing each and every minute work - be it muck work, foil work ,stone work or painting and really relish the outcome.I could proudly display this is my work. But the photo is not sharp enough to cover the ridges of the foil. I gifted this to my in-laws with a Chettinad V frame.
Updated:
Here is how it looks with the frame.

Butterflies, flowers and a break

Today this is a card for card pattern #95. So simple card in red and green..  I somehow always feel I could add something more to the card. But that is ok.. The butterfly is handcut and I made a lace with the punched flowers ha..ha..The Orange background is a hand made paper.Rest is from my stash.
Here is the sketch.
And here goes my card.

Just for fun!

I made this card just for fun! Yes. On seeing my hubby's birthday card 2010, my little son, asked me with a beseeching smile, "Will you make a card for me?" . Moved by his request, I immediately sat down for making this card and finished it soon. He likes Santa and he liked the card too..

My hubby's bday 2010

Yesterday my hubby celebrated his birthday and I made this card for him.
I cut the cake in foam, colored it with acrylic colors .Then added some glitters , glue and gloss and let it dry for a day!(Chennai climate was so chilly .Believe it!).It is not clearly visible in photo.. but in reality looks yummy!
I started with some idea in mind and finally ended up with a card like this.I know the bow in the card makes it more girly.I tried various things but nothing worked out.Anyways, he liked the card..(wink..can he say the other way? :) ).
Your comments and suggestions about the card are welcome. Thank you for all of you to take time in appreciating my work.It s encouraging and makes me happy :)

My mom is the best!

It has been raining so heavily in Chennai for the past 60 hrs or so... and  guess what, this is the first time I am wearing sweaters since I came to Chennai ..lol.. Its holiday for schools today and my dear son is at home.
Today morning I sat down for making this card and it was fun for him to meddle with my things. He misplaced a few things and I had to keep hunting for it and it was like never ending.. hmm.. So finally I am done with my card... enough of my own stories.
Now about the card. I am sending this card for Get Sketchy Challenge 67 . Above is the sketch.
I do not have all the fancy stuffs for card making. Trying to do with all that I have at home. I tried to emboss the background with a design on a box top. It was futile.Shows very lightly on the card. The ribbon kindda thing is the paper crimped through a quilling crimper and I added a quilled flower in matching color. The below lace is hand cut. The rest is left to your observation. Overall I liked the card. How do you like it?

 Another closer view.
Sending it to another challenge craftypad-anything goes

BLUE CARD USING OLD AND NEW GOODIES!

I am linking up this card for Challenge 141 of Cute card Thursday. The color of the card should be blue.
Here is another challenge --  Julie's challenge on Yvonne's blog. The challenge requires you to use old and new goodies to make a card and here is my take on it.
The pattern paper and scallop scissor are old and the ribbons and buttons are new.
The pattern paper is from papermania pack.I felt the card had a dull look. So I added some yellow color in it to brighten up and it worked..:) The flower is foam cut. Buttons and ribbons from my stash. So how does it look?

Have a wonderful day!

This week I am playing for Sketch92  and Play Date Cafe PDCC#58. I combined both the challenges and came out with this card.

This week's Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC#58 is Red and White.I have added a little black too.Hope they do not mind it.This Red, white and black combo never lets me down.

So here comes my creation.

I used Ghingham ribbon in the middle, just because the challenge sketch had that in it.. lol.. I dotted up the upper portion, just to match the middle ribbon. The card in reality actually looks beautiful than the photo..Do let me know your views.
